Kate Middleton news: Prince Charles gave ring, bracelet and earrings wedding gift to royal

Kate added to her jewellery collection on her wedding day and she was given a gold wedding band made of Welsh gold.

To mark the occasion, she was also given a sweet wedding present from her new father-in-law, Prince Charles.

He gifted Kate a three piece white and gold jewellery set which has been estimated to cost a staggering £60,000.

The yellow and white gold set comprised of a matching bracelet, ring and earrings.

Prince Charles’ thoughtful gift also appeared to be custom-made and given to welcome her into the family, explained head of bespoke at 77 Diamonds Anna Byers.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, she commented: “After her wedding to Prince William, Prince Charles welcomed his new daughter-in-law a set of matching yellow and white gold pieces.

“This included a ring, bracelet and a pair of drop earrings she has since worn on several occasions.

“They are in an Art Deco style and seem to be custom made for Kate.

Kate has since worn the set at other formal events and the jewels are made up of diamonds and white gold.

“The earrings feature two round diamond clusters almost in a flower shape,” the expert added.

“The central diamond has a yellow hue, bridged by three horizontal baguette diamonds set in white gold.

“The bracelet has a repeating diamond cluster and baguette pattern bordered by two rows of diamonds, with the central diamond again seeming to have a yellow hue. The ring has a double diamond cluster.”

The royal line of succession – who outranks who?

The line of succession to the British throne dictates the order in which each member of the Royal Family would ascend to the throne.

It is also seen as a ranking of importance with the head of the line, the Queen, taking the place of ruler.

Older children come before younger children. Traditionally boys came before girls, but this law was changed on 26 March 2015 before the birth of Prince William’s first child.

Incredibly, Catholics are still excluded from the line of succession, as are children born outside of wedlock.

The royals, who usually stick to a strict protocol when appearing in public, often arrive at events in ascending order of importance, with the most important royal arriving last.

Prince Charles, 72, is currently first-in-line to the British throne, followed by Prince William, 38, his oldest son.

Then comes Prince William’s children, George, seven, Charlotte, five, and Louis, two, and they are followed by Prince Harry, 36. Prince Harry is succeeded by his son Archie Harrison, born in May 2019.
