Celebrities Celebrate Elliot Page Coming Out as Transgender

Elliot Page came out as transgender on Tuesday, and almost immediately after his announcement, stars showered the Umbrella Academy actor with messages of love and support. In his announcement, Elliot opened up about his identity, writing, “Hi friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot. I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life.” Elliot then thanked the trans community for inspiring him and vowed to “do everything I can to change this world for the better.”

Following Elliot’s announcement, his wife, Emma Portner, celebrated her partner on Instagram, saying, “I am so proud of @elliotpage. Trans, queer and non-binary people are a gift to this world . . .
